Expressive Sock Puppets are a series of interactive sock puppet interfaces designed to help adults and children experiment with their own voices. The inspiration for this project was the little girl who asked me to “do the character voices” for the dollhouse game we were playing, because she “didn’t know how” – and the realization that I couldn’t do them either. An unexpected moment of success was when I found myself reading a book in a silly high-pitched voice while animating a sock puppet of a frog in a labcoat during my final presentation in an MIT class!
